I am excited and honored to be entering my new role as principal of DMS for the 2017-2018 school year. DMS is a fantastic school and it is my goal to keep it moving in the positive direction it was going under the leadership of Dr. Moore.

The 2017-2018 school year will be my 15th year in education. I started my educational career as a social studies teacher at Hickman High School in Columbia, Missouri after attending Indiana University-Bloomington where I earned my Bachelor of Arts in History and teaching certificate.  While a teacher at Hickman, I completed my Master in Education in Secondary Administration from William Woods University and started my Educational Specialist at the University of Missouri-Columbia. After my first year in the Specialist program, I was offered a Graduate Research Assistant position at MU. This position required me to leaving my teaching job, but provided me the opportunity over the next two years of my assistantship at MU to finish not only my Specialist degree, but also earn my Doctorate of Philosophy in Educational Leadership and Policy Analysis. After completing my Ph.D., I was hired as an assistant principal at Liberty High School in 2008, where I stayed until accepting the principal position at DMS in the Spring of 2017.

In my free time, I love to spend time with my wife and two elementary age daughters. We also travel to Columbia to visit our extended family as both my wife and I were born and raised there. Our parents, siblings, and nieces and nephews all live in Columbia, so there is plenty to keep us busy when we visit. I enjoy reading and when time allows playing golf.

I am proud to call DMS my professional home and believe whole heartedly in our focus to take care of kids academically, emotionally, and physically while teaching independence.

If I can ever be of assistance, please do not hesitate to reach out to me.
